Santa Clara Arrests Today
No countywide page lists every Santa Clara County arrest from a rolling 24-hour window. The official starting point is OVR / Find Inmate. It offers no last-24-hours filter and no chronological county table. An empty result never proves an arrest did not happen.
Arrest comes first. Booking follows if the person enters Department of Correction custody. Intake can involve identity checks, a booking image, and charge and hold entry. Bail data and housing classification also enter the record. Public data shifts quickly during those first days. A person cited and released may never sit on the live roster at all.
Check Santa Clara Bookings Today
Search with your strongest details. A lone name often matches several people. Add a date of birth when you have it. That narrows the results fast.
- Open the official OVR custody search.
- Search by CEN, PFN, full name and birth date, or booking date.
- Compare identifiers, booking date, facility, and court data.
- For a new or unclear event, call Administrative Booking at (408) 299-2305.
- Check the arresting agency if county intake is not yet confirmed.
The numbers have simple shapes. A CEN is the seven- or eight-digit booking number. A PFN pairs three letters with three digits. The court guide warns that data changes rapidly during booking and the first days after. Automated jail information also runs at (408) 976-5245. The official OVR screen shows every available search path.

This is a named-person custody tool, not a gallery or complete daily arrest feed.
Santa Clara Arrest Result Fields
Each arrest result blends identity and custody data. Bail and court details appear too. Some fields shift while booking continues. Others may stay blank.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name, sex, booking date | Identity and county intake date |
| PFN and CEN | Person and booking identifiers |
| Housing facility | Listed county custody location |
| Bail and release date | Current recorded status when available |
| Court appearances | Court code, department, date, and time |
The official OVR example shows no public photo field. A booking photograph can still exist in a controlled system without being displayed. Requests follow the arresting agency's policy. Sheriff-made arrest photos may be considered through Sheriff Media Relations. Records channels also handle them. A city agency stays the proper custodian of its own arrest photo.
Charges, warrants, and holds are booking-stage entries. The court record may later show filing, amendment, dismissal, diversion, acquittal, plea, or sentence.
When Santa Clara Arrests Appear
No source promises a fixed posting hour or weekend cadence. Identity checks, medical screening, property processing, charge entry, warrant checks, and housing assignment can each delay the public result. The OVR notice also lists planned maintenance every Monday from 12:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Treat an outage then as downtime. It is never proof that no custody record exists.
- Booking
- The formal intake record after an arrest is accepted into jail custody.
- Hold
- A legal basis that may prevent release.
- Disposition
- The later court outcome, such as dismissal, acquittal, plea, or conviction.
Note: Arrest time, booking time, roster display, and court filing run on separate clocks that update at different points.
Confirm a Santa Clara Arrest
When OVR returns no match, start by identifying the agency. Agencies include San Jose Police, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, and Santa Clara Police. The Sheriff, CHP, and other agencies can also create records. Those records later lead to county booking. A city log or release can confirm an agency event. It cannot confirm current custody.
Call Administrative Booking at (408) 299-2305 for first-day confirmation. The court guide also lists (408) 299-2306. For a detailed or older Sheriff-held record, use the Sheriff Records Division. A release or transfer can remove someone from OVR. The arrest report and any filed court case remain.
The county's social channels publish selected announcements, not all bookings. The SCC Pretrial app serves enrolled clients with court navigation and conditions. It is not a public arrest lookup. The official SCC Pretrial listing makes that limited role clear.

The app should not be confused with an arrested-today feed or booking-photo service.
After a Santa Clara Booking
After a Santa Clara booking, paths split. A person may stay at Main Jail or Elmwood. They might post bail, be cited and released, or receive pretrial release. Another option is a move to another authority. Read the listed facility rather than assuming placement from the arrest city. Release does not erase the underlying record.
Once charges are filed, the Superior Court Criminal Case Index is the next source. It shows how a case progresses. For the wider city blotter, use the Arrest Reports page. The VINE Arrest Check handles custody-change alerts instead.
Santa Clara Custody States
Custody labels tell a story, and each one means something different in Santa Clara County. "Just arrested" marks the police event itself. "Booked" means the county logged the person into its system. "In custody" means the person is still held. "Released" can point to bail or a citation. Pretrial release or a finished stint also fit that tag. "Transferred" suggests another facility or agency. That agency has the person now. These tags track the jail, not the courtroom. OVR works best for current or very recent county custody. California VINE sends custody-change alerts when a participating record exists. The Superior Court index follows the filed county case once charges reach the court. Someone committed to state prison shows up elsewhere. The CDCR CIRIS search covers that. Federal Bureau of Prisons and immigration detention systems sit apart entirely. Matching the lookup to the custody state avoids a common false negative.
A booking location is current information, never a permanent assignment. Main Jail sits in San Jose, and Elmwood sits in Milpitas. Classification decisions and inmate movement can shift where a person is held. Call the facility or the Department of Correction. A visit, release pickup, or legal deadline can ride on the location.
Note: When a name drops off the roster, check for release or transfer before assuming the arrest record vanished.
